My Revolutionary Dream Toilet is a shadow puppet performance telling the story of Professor Armitage Shanks, a university professor turned into a toilet, and his search for insight, redemption and de-porcelainization on the Traveling Township Toilet Tour® through African slums. Led by the Guide to Lost Causes, the tour wends its way from Cape Town to Zanzibar, meeting along the way a dazzling cast of characters wrestling with -- or exploiting -- the challenge of sanitation in urban informal settlements and slums. Join the tour and hear from Community Members and Activists, the Government Engineer, the Toilet Cleaner, the Snake, Hammerhead the Evil Contractor and many more! Witness Professor Shanks’ struggle as he tries to understand his own ambitions and follies as he along with students, community members, and many other collaborators in Cape Town try to “do something” about a crisis affecting a billion or more people worldwide.
